Where are you located?

1

All of our regular classes are held at Dance Underground in Capitol Hill.

From time to time, we have popup workshops with guest instructors that take place at a different location, so if you are booking a guest popup, please double check the class page or flyer where the location will be clearly noted.

Which level is right for me?

2

If you’ve never shuffled before, our 4-Week Beginner Shuffle Series is the place to start! Most people repeat the Beginner Series 2-3 times until they feel comfortable with the basics. After that, our Building Blocks program is the next step to establish your foundation and own personal style.

Once you’ve completed the Beginner Series, you are welcome to join any “Intermediate” labeled classes, though we recommend being able to do the basics at 110 BPM first.

Our “Int/Adv” level classes are for those who have already built confidence with their foundation, transitions, and understanding of music structure/timing, are able to do the basics (Running Man, T-Step) at 120 BPM, and looking to push their training to the next level.

Additional Class Labels:
-”Open Level” is typically used for popup workshops whose curriculum can cater to a wide range of levels from brand new to int/adv.
-”Advanced” is for dancers who have 2+ years of experience, can keep up with complex combos, have started to refine their own style, and can flow to music 125 BPM and above.

Do you allow drop-ins?

3

We have several drop-in style 1-off workshops sprinkled throughout the calendar!

For 4-Week Series, drop-ins can occasionally be accommodated if the series is not sold out. Please send us an email or DM us on Instagram ( @youcanshufflewithus ) to inquire if there is space available!

We do not allow dropping in for anyone who has not already taken the full Beginner Series (or independently already knows the basics).

What other styles do you offer?

4

We have a variety of rotating popup workshops! Each class is centered around our shared love of EDM - if you’d like to learn a style you don’t see here, or request a new guest instructor or 4-week series, send us an email to let us know!

-DnB Step
-Hoop Dance
-Gogo Dance
-Twerk
-Sensual Movement (heels optional)
-Gloving

What should I wear to class?

6

Our Beginner Shuffle and Building Blocks series teach foundations for both Melbourne Shuffle and Cutting Shapes, as well as educates new dancers on the mechanical, cultural, and historical differences between the two!

Our popup workshops will always specify in the description which style will be represented in that class, whether it’s Cutting Shapes, Melbourne, MAS, or Hybrid.

For shuffle classes, wear sneakers with a flat, smooth(ish) sole - running shoes are not recommended due to the traction and shape of the soles.

Other than that, dress in what makes you feel confident, comfy, and cool! We have students show up in everything from rave outfits to costumes to sweats/workout clothes and we love it all. Just keep in mind that it gets very hot during class.

I want to take the 4-Week series but I will have to miss a class, what should I do?

7

If you know you have prior commitments or travel, shoot us an email to request a code that deducts the cost of 1 class from the series! We do not recommend missing either of the first 2 weeks in the 4-Week Series, however, or you may feel a little lost in the following classes.

What style of shuffling do you teach?

5

What if I can’t make it?

8

If you’ve mistakenly signed up for a class or series, you can email us within 48 hours to cancel for a full refund. After 48 hours, there are no refunds for any reason, but a class credit can be issued for another class in the future - just email us to get one!

If you’re running late to class, don’t worry! Life happens - we understand and we still want you there (though we can not take time out to catch you up). Simply knock LOUDLY if the door is locked so we can hear you over the music!
